The Ogori Descendants Union (ODU) has expressed profound sorrow over the death of His Royal Majesty, Oba Ojo Sam Bola, the Olu-Magongo of Magongo and Paramount Ruler of Magongo Land.
In an official condolence message issued by the Union’s National President, Dr. Gabriel Osiwomekwin Aiso, FCPEL, the organisation described the monarch’s passing as a monumental loss not only to the Magongo Kingdom but to the entire Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area.
Oba Ojo Sam Bola, who until his death served as the Chairman of the Ogori/Magongo Traditional Council, was widely respected as a custodian of culture, a bridge-builder, and a father figure to his people. His reign was marked by a deep commitment to the preservation of Magongo’s rich cultural heritage and the advancement of peace and unity within the traditional institution.
“The passing of His Royal Majesty is a profound loss. As Chairman of the Ogori/Magongo Traditional Council, he occupied an important position of leadership and provided invaluable guidance within our traditional institution,” Dr. Aiso stated in the release. “He was a revered monarch, a father, and a steadfast custodian of the rich cultural heritage and traditions of his people. His reign and service will remain an enduring part of the history of Magongo and the wider Ogori/Magongo community.”
The ODU President extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate Royal Family, the Magongo Traditional Council, and the entire people of Magongo Kingdom, assuring them of the Union’s solidarity during this difficult period of mourning.
“We stand with you as you mourn the departure of your beloved monarch,” Dr. Aiso added. “We pray that the Almighty grants the Royal Family and the people of Magongo the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May the legacy of His Royal Majesty’s leadership and service continue to endure for generations to come.”
The Ogori Descendants Union, which serves as the apex socio-cultural umbrella body for the Ogori people at home and in the diaspora, reaffirmed its commitment to honouring the late monarch’s memory by supporting initiatives that promote the development and cultural pride of the Ogori/Magongo nation.
The statement concluded with a traditional salute to the departed king: Tigure, Kabiyesi — a solemn acknowledgment of his royal authority and a final farewell to a monarch whose influence transcended his kingdom.
