Major General Erema Akerejola, Haliru Aminu Among 18 New Traditional Rulers Approved in Kogi

The Kogi State Government has approved the appointment of Eighteen (18) traditional rulers to fill vacant stools created by the death of previous occupants across the state.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, followed due process by the government and were based on the candidates’ perceived qualities of tact, integrity, maturity and patriotism required for the effective discharge of traditional leadership responsibilities.

A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Eniola Enimola, on behalf of the Commissioner, said the appointments were made after the government was satisfied that the appointees possessed the requisite attributes to shoulder the responsibilities of their respective traditional offices.

Among those appointed as Second Class traditional rulers are:

Mallam Haliru Aminu Akwu
Etsu Elaite;
Major General Erema Akerejola
Ubuoro of Ogori land.
Others in the category are

Idris Ali Yusuf,
Onu Itama;
Usman Akowe Omonu,
Onu Ayah;
Joseph Abdul Abuh,
Odu Ogidiga of Emodu;
Abdul Opaluwa,
Omachi Iyogbo;
Ali Abba,
Abagbo-Inna Akpanya;
Umoru Zakari, Odoma
Ata Igala;
Umoru Usman Atabo
Ijomi, Ekpa Ata Igala;
Yusuf Momoh Adama,
Anaja of Gbobe.
The government also approved the appointment of Third Class Chiefs, including:

Alikali Suleiman,
Taru Onyionwa of Idu Eyire Clan;
Salami Abdulrasaq,
Olu-Ere of Ife-Olukotun;
Zakari Alhassan,
Ondaki of Ohikwo;
Isiaka Ukele Ogohi Acharu;
Abuh Adukwu,
Owo Onu-Ife.
Others appointed are:

Alhaji Gida,
Ohinoyi of Kekere;
Sule Yabubu,
Ohinoyi of Edekakpo;
Nigeria Okpanachi,
Egena Eje of Olamaboro.
The statement said all the appointments are effective with immediately.
