At a time when the state of healthcare delivery in Nigeria commands urgent national attention, the Delsu Medical School Alumni Association (DUMSAA) has chosen to place that conversation at the heart of its 3rd Ordinary General Meeting (OGM), scheduled for Sunday, 4th October 2026, at 5:00 PM West Africa Time (WAT), on Microsoft Teams.
The meeting, which will be hosted by DUMSAA President, Dr. Kennedy Oberhiri Obohwemu, will be convened under the theme, “People, Policy, and Progress: Shaping the Future of Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria.” It is a theme as timely as it is timeless, one that cuts to the very core of what ails Nigeria’s healthcare system and what must be done to heal it.
To lead that conversation, DUMSAA has secured the participation of Prof. Patrick Oyibo, Professor of Public Health, as Guest Speaker. Prof. Oyibo brings to the occasion a wealth of scholarly insight and professional experience in public health policy and systems that few can match. His address is expected to be the intellectual centrepiece of the meeting, sparking the kind of rigorous and solution-oriented dialogue that DUMSAA has made its hallmark.
The decision to hold the 3rd OGM virtually, on the Microsoft Teams platform, underscores DUMSAA’s recognition that its membership spans the length and breadth of Nigeria and beyond, and that the strength of its voice lies in the breadth of its reach. By opening the virtual doors to alumni and stakeholders wherever they may be, DUMSAA ensures that no voice is left out of a conversation that belongs to all.
Since its inception, DUMSAA under the leadership of Dr. Obohwemu has distinguished itself as more than an alumni association in the traditional sense. It has positioned itself as a think tank of medical professionals committed to using their collective expertise to influence policy, improve practice, and inspire a new generation of healthcare leaders. The 3rd OGM is the latest expression of that vision.
