The 26th Age Group of Ogori has congratulated one of its illustrious members, Major General Erema Akerejola (rtd), on his appointment as the Ubuoro of Ogoriland by the Kogi State Government.
In a congratulatory statement signed by its Chairman, Mr. Friday Moses, the Group described the appointment as fittingly deserving, meritorious and a round peg in a round hole.
According to the statement, the elevation of General Akerejola to the revered traditional stool of Ubuoro is a testament to his distinguished military career, sterling leadership qualities, unblemished integrity and his lifelong commitment to the peace, unity and development of Ogori community.
“The 26th Age Group is immensely proud to identify with our own. Major General Erema Akerejola (rtd) has at all times been a worthy ambassador of our Age Group and of Ogori land. His discipline, humility and service to Nigeria and humanity have brought honour to us all. His appointment as Ubuoro of Ogoriland is therefore not a surprise, but a well-earned recognition,” the statement read.
The Group noted that the Ubuoro stool requires wisdom, courage and exposure – virtues which General Akerejola has demonstrated in abundance both in service and in retirement.
While praying for a peaceful and prosperous reign, the 26th Age Group also extended heartfelt congratulations to the Ekarabome Royal Family, custodians of the Ubuoro chieftaincy, and to General Akerejola’s immediate family, the Eminefo family, for producing a son worthy of such honour.
“We felicitate with the Ekarabome Royal Family and the Eminefo family of Ogori on this historic appointment. May his reign usher in greater unity, development and cultural renaissance for Ogoriland,” Mr. Moses added.
The Group reaffirmed its loyalty and support to the new Ubuoro and pledged to work with him for the advancement of Ogori and Kogi State at large.
General Erema succeeds his late father, HRH (Prof) Olugbemiro Akerejola, who joined his ancestors last year. The Ubuoro stool is graded second class.
