Kwara 2027: I’m most experienced among guber contenders — Danladi

Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, has said no other contender for the 2027 governorship race in the State can match his experience and track record in governance.

Danladi stated this during an interview with BBC News Yoruba while reacting to allegations that he was handpicked by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as his successor.

Debunking the claim, Danladi said he is eminently qualified and prepared to lead the State, noting that his seven-and-a-half years as Speaker of the State Assembly remains his biggest credential.

“If I had not measured up to the task, my colleagues — the twenty-three members I led for seven years — would have removed me from office. For someone to lead the legislative arm for about seven and a half years without any trouble or conflict implies that the person is highly competent,” he said.

According to him, competence is measured by track record in service, governance and education.

“Among all those vying for the governorship, considering the experience I have garnered, who else has achieved what I have? I possess more experience than all of them. And regarding education, I hold all the necessary qualifications required to steer the affairs of Kwara State,” he added.

The Speaker said his long tenure at the helm of the Assembly is marked by stability, cordial working relationship between the executive and legislature, and impactful lawmaking that has supported the transformation agenda of the present administration in the last seven years.

He noted that the 9th and 10th Assembly under his leadership has remained united, focused and development-driven, with no record of internal crisis or executive-legislative face-off — a feat he described as unprecedented.

The APC governorship candidate assured the people that if elected governor in 2027, he would build on the successes of the Abdulrazaq administration, particularly in opening up the State for investment, industrialization and agricultural growth.
