The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Emir Ado Bayero were among the eminent personalities that graced the grand finale of the centenary celebration of the Az- Zumratul Adabbiyatul Kamaliyyah School of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

While the Sultan and Bayero were physically present, Governor AbdulRazaq was represented by Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah.

Other personalities included former senate President Bukola Saraki, former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kawu Baraje, Kwara 2026 Amirul – Hajj, Hon. Mashood Mustapha who was the Chief Launcher at the event, and the immediate past Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is- haq Oloyede.

The institute which clocked 100 years was established by the late Founder of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud- deen Al- Adabiy.

Speaking on the occasion, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, admonished the youths across the country not to make themselves available as thugs for anyone, urging them to shun any attempt by anyone to use them for any shady deal that could tarnish their families’ reputation or ruin their lives.

“I challenge our youths not to allow themselves to be used as thugs or as bandits in whatever way, either for political or economic gains, ” Saadu said.

The Sultan of Sokoto also admonished Nigerians on the need to always pray for their leaders – whether President or Governor, saying that it’s only Allah that could provide solutions to the nation’s problems.

He charged Muslims to be better Muslims by loving their neighbours the way they love themselves without mindind their neighbours’ religious beliefs.

“All of us should be better Muslims by being good to our neighbours regardless of their faith. We should also pray for our leaders always so that they can do good things for all of us.

“We are Muslims and we love everybody. We have not come here to say that we are better than anyone. Our leaders should do more. We know our problems, but Allah has solutions to our problems. It’s Allah that grants one or nation prosperity and otherwise,” Saad said.

He praised the Founder of the institution, the late Sheikh Muhammad Kamaldeen Al- Adabbiy for his foresight, adding that: “We thank Allah for keeping the progress of this institution. We will always do all we can do to help this institution.”

For his part, Governor AbdulRazaq, who announced a donation of N180million on his behalf, his family and Kwara state government, said his administration would continue to support the School to realise the vision of its Founder.

He extolled the virtues of the late Sheikh Kamalu-deen, urging Muslim Umah to continue on his path of peace, promotion of scholarship and religious harmony.

In his speech former Senate President Bukola Saraki, reiterated his commitment to sustaining the legacies of the late Sheikh Kamalu-deen whose contributions to the propagation of Islam and promotion of co-education was legendary and well acknowledged beyond the shores of the country.

“Wherever you go today, Ilorin is synonymous to Islam and Islam is synonymous to Ilorin and it is because of the great works done by people like the late Sheikh Kamalu-deen in the propagation of Islam even beyond the shores of Nigeria,” he said.
