2027: ADC Will Deliver Positive Change In Kwara – Prof. Gana
Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State, Professor Yisa Gana, has called for a change in leadership both in Kwara State and Nigeria, declaring that the ADC offers a credible alternative to the country’s prevailing political and economic challenges.
Gana made the call while speaking at a media parley organised by the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Zakari Mohammed, at his campaign office in Ilorin.
He criticised the state of electricity supply, education and infrastructure in the country, arguing that successive governments had failed to deliver the improvements promised to Nigerians, questioning
why electricity generation had remained abysmally low despite years of promises by successive administrations to improve power supply.
He also expressed concern over the state of education, particularly the challenges confronting students and the declining opportunities for scholarships, urging Nigerians to hold political leaders accountable and make electoral decisions based on their performance rather than party affiliation.
According to him, Kwara State needed a government that would operate independently in the interest of the people, promote collective leadership and ensure that citizens had a voice in decisions affecting their lives, adding that leadership should not be concentrated in the hands of a few individuals, but should encourage broad participation and collective responsibility.
Gana also emphasised the need for the State to harness its natural and human resources to drive development, improve infrastructure and create opportunities for residents, pointing out that the State has the potential to achieve more if its resources are properly managed and channelled towards projects that directly benefit the people.
The professor expressed confidence that an ADC-led administration under Hon. Zakari Mohammed would introduce positive changes from the onset.
He said the State could witness significant transformation within four years if the incoming government prioritises development, accountability and the welfare of residents.
Mohammed, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2019, is seeking to become governor of Kwara State on the platform of the ADC.
