Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday inaugurated the state coordinating office of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement (RHYE) with a charge on members to engage the people meaningfully to win their hearts in favour of the ruling APC at the polls.
“As we look towards the 2027 general elections, our political objective is clear: to present our records, communicate our vision, strengthen our grassroots structures, and work towards securing the support of the people for the APC across Kwara State,” the Governor told the large gathering of supporters at the open field of the George Innih Stadium Ilorin.
“Our aspiration is to see Kwara record overwhelming votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and secure strong electoral support for all APC candidates, from the National Assembly to the State House of Assembly and other elective positions.”
The Governor was represented at the event by his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi.
AbdulRazaq said for them to deliver at the polls party faithful must unite, engage and clearly communicate the APC programmes with the people at the grassroot and listen to their concerns.
He acknowledged that the youth are energetic, creative and determined to build stronger communities and expand opportunities for their fellow residents, a reason why he said the administration prioritizes youth inclusion.
“I therefore charge RHYE to take its activities to every local government area, ward, and community across Kwara. Engage our young people, encourage informed participation, promote peaceful political engagement, and ensure that our message reaches the people through credible and responsible means,” the Governor added.
The event was attended by Kwara First Lady, Amb. (Mrs) Olufolake AbdulRazaq; wife of the Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly and APC Gubernatorial candidate, Hajiya Sa’adat Yakubu Danladi; top government officials; APC chieftains, candidates and various support groups.
Ambassador AbdulRazaq, in her remarks, enjoined members to be committed to their engagement with people and sensitize them on why the APC deserves their votes.
“You will recall that in the prelude to the 2023 general elections when I served as the coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team in the North Central Geopolitical Zone, the zone recorded one of the largest votes by women in the country,” she said.
“As the general elections draw near, however, engagements such as this become imperative to appraise our preparedness and chart coordinated courses to further strengthen our strategies in the forthcoming elections, as I enjoin us to continue with our door-to-door engagements, sensitizing our people and keeping them informed on the laudable efforts of the government and our great party.”
State APC Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the 2027 general elections, declaring that the APC is prepared to secure victories across elective positions.
Fagbemi said Kwara, like before, will deliver for President Tinubu, and dismissed the purported influence the opposition Rainbow Coalition can make in Kwara politics, urging party members and indeed electorates to remain committed to the APC’s political direction.
National Coordinator for RHYE, Hon. Abdulazeez Kaka, said he was happy with the large turnout of party faithful and was confident that Kwara APC will translate such to electoral victory.
He commended the Governor for his excellent performance in the state which he said has made the jobs easier for the APC campaign teams.
State Coordinator of RHYE and Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Nafisat Musa Buge, charged youths across the state to actively participate in governance, promote verified information and support grassroots development.
Buge said the formal structuring of RHYE was aimed at strengthening youth engagement across Kwara State, stressing the need for commitment, discipline, teamwork and sustained community outreach.
She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the birth of the Renewed Hope agenda that she said aims to expand opportunities in education, technology and enterprise.
The Commissioner also praised the Governor for his administration’s investments in key infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment, noting these are already yielding results in the lives of Kwarans.
Chairman, Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, credited Governor AbdulRazaq for laying the political foundation that contributed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support in the state during the 2023 presidential election.
He said AbdulRazaq had supported Tinubu’s presidential ambition when he was still an aspirant, adding that Kwara recorded significant support for the President during the election, and will repeat the same in 2027.
