The Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Alhaji Sule Salihu Enehe, has restated the commitment of the Service to meet and surpass its yearly revenue target to drive development in the state.
Alhaji Enehe gave the assurance on Wednesday shortly after he was honoured with an award by the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) during the grand finale of the 2026 Press Week held at the NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja.
Speaking with journalists after receiving the award, the KGIRS boss said the recognition was a morale booster for the entire management and staff of the Service.
He said the organization is determined to meet up with its target every year through innovation, transparency and improved tax administration.
“We are determined to meet and even surpass our target every year. We have put in place reforms that will block leakages, expand the tax net and make tax payment easier for our people,” he said.
Alhaji Enehe commended the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support to the Service and his determination to develop the state.
According to him, Governor Ododo has provided an enabling environment for the KGIRS to thrive, which has resulted in steady growth in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
“The Governor has been very supportive. His determination to develop Kogi State is visible in all sectors – in infrastructure, education, health and prompt payment of salaries. We at KGIRS are proud to be part of this developmental drive by contributing our quota through improved revenue,” he noted.
He attributed the successes recorded so far to the hard work and dedication of the staff of the Service and the cooperation of taxpayers in the state.
He thanked the leadership of the NUJ in Kogi State, led by its Chairman, and the Award Committee headed by Comrade Adeiza MomohJimoh, Zonal Vice President, Zone D, for finding him worthy of the honour.
He dedicated the award to the management and staff of KGIRS, assuring that the Service will not relent in its efforts to sustain Kogi’s economic growth.
The award ceremony was part of activities marking the 2026 NUJ Press Week with the theme: “Professional and Ethical Standards in Election Reporting: The Journalist as a Guardian of Democracy.”
