TRIBUTE TO DR MOSES ADESOLA ADEBISI, Ph.d
(MASBISI)
A QUINTESSENTIAL SCHOLAR

On behalf of the National Steering Committee and members of Government Secondary School Agbaja Old Students Association, i convey our condolences to the entire family of Dr. Moses Adesola Adebisi whose sad event occurred on 26 June 2021. The members of the Alumni Association at home and abroad received the sad news with rude shock and I was particularly speechless when the news came in, as i was earlier on that day tried to coordinate a reviving prayer for him, when he was still on the sick bed. Masbisi, as we all fondly called him while in the College and until his death, was admitted into the College in 1977 and appointed the Head boy in 1980 and in that position,

he demonstrated good leadership throughout his reign until 1981 when he graduated. Many of us would still remember his scholarly speech delivered on the day of Speech and Prize-giving Day, where he proved to be a prolific writer, an eloquent presenter, a caring leader and a loved personality, indeed, he was a charismatic leader.

Dr. Masbisi will be remembered for his sterling leadership at all times, his honesty of purpose, forthrightness, God-fearing nature, kind disposition and uncommon humility. He was a Lead Administrator on the Association’s whatsapp platform he created four (4) years ago and has always identified with his Alma mater. He has contributed immensely to the development and growth of our Alumni Association’s membership growth. He truly belongs to our Association’s history and has a place therein that shall abide for all time.

Dr. Masbisi was an Iconic personality with a very sound and robust intellectual capacity as a student in the college, a university teacher and a consummate sociologist.. He was very incisive, methodological, analytical and documentary in his writings and conversations, though he was a man of few words.

Within the circle of his school mates and associates, Masbisi was a man to beloved, always jovial, humorous and accommodating. Let me remind us one of his loved quotations authored by Herbert Marcuse, a German Sociologist and I quote “it is for the sake of those without hope that hope is given unto us” Of course, at our Association, his demise has certainly created a vacuum, however, we take solace in the fact that he left an indelible marks in the annals of history, we shall surely miss him. Moses A. Adebisi, Ph.d, our Head Boy and leader, adieu. May your soul find a befitting abode with our Creator. It is our earnest prayers that God in His Infinity Mercy will comfort the Wife, Children and give the entire family the strength to bear this loss.
