MOTION CALLING ON THE STATE GOVERNMENT TO COMPLETE THE ON-GOING OGORI –MAGONGO ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Distinguished Honorable Colleagues,
Whereas: The welfare of the people is one of the fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy. It is, therefore, imperative for section 14 (2) (d) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria (as amended ) to state that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. The greatest economic provision a government can give to generate wealth, ensure human and capital development of every nation is to provide the needed infrastructure. Road construction is one of such infrastructure.
The focus and determination of this present Government of Kogi State under the able leadership of his Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello and his new direction team have been directed towards the general well-being of the most especially the road construction across the state.
Without mincing words, the people of Ogori/Magongo state constituency have been ecstatic since the commencement of reconstruction work on Ogori/magongo road since 2019. The joy of the people should not be short-lived with the stoppage of work. What is left to complete the reconstruction is distance of 1 kilometer.
Concerned, therefore, that the road should not be left uncompleted for distance that is not more than three (3) kilometers between Ogori/Magongo Local Government Secretariat, police station and Government Science Secondary School; it behoves on me to call on this august Assembly to come to the rescue of my Constituency.

Mr. Speaker sir, my distinguished colleagues, considering the efforts of the new Direction of Governor Yahaya Bello in putting smiles on the faces of Kogites Ogori/ Magongo should not be left out. I therefore call on this Honourable House resolve as follows:
That this august House, through a resolution appeal to his Excellence, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello to direct the Ministry of Works/relevant Agencies to return to site and complete the remaining one 1 kilometer.
