*HON. TAUFIQ ISA CHAMPIONING A CONSISTENT AND PROACTIVE APPROACH IN TACKLING INSECURITY IN IJUMU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA: COMMENDABLE, WORTHY OF EMULATION.*

During his 1961 inaugural address, John F. Kennedy of United States of America famously declared “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
This philosophy of doing something for others instead of expecting others to do something for you is also very relevant when leaders in position of authority deliberately adopts a proactive approach towards the security of lives and property of their subjects.
The Kennedy’s selfless philosophy in leadership no doubt is the Philosophy approach of the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello and that of the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State. Alhaji Taufiq Isa in tackling the monster of insecurity presently bedeviling the Nigeria space.
Too often, Leaders in Africa focus, so much, on what the Security Agencies should be doing for them and their family that they forget about what they should be doing for the people that voted them into office.
Security conscious leaders in the crops of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello and Alhaji Taufiq Isa reflects deeply in knowing that they cannot successfully tackle insecurity if they do not have the support of a credible working team.This no doubt forms the backdrop of the recently inaugurated Local Hunters Committees in every communities in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State by Honourable Taufiq Isa, nurturing confidence and surpport in the minds of citizenry.
The citizens who don’t feel secured and safely protected by their leaders are much more likely to not quit, file grievances, ignore policy and procedures, and shirk responsibilities. Ijumu citizens over time have known that their chairman is always willing to do whatever he can to help them develop and own their security consciousness for advancement and opportunities.
He had ordered an immediate and unconditional discontinuation of all ungodly activities in every unholy hours capable of entangling the security architectural arrangements put in place through the official inauguration of the local hunters committees to ensure adequate security of lives and properties of the people of Ijumu Local Government.
Government can encourage an atmosphere of security, or they can undermine it. Their behavior in large part determines whether the people who are meticulous about security are considered to handle security issues.
Alhaji Taofiq have been severally reported to personally take charge of leading security team to ensure his people sleep with their two eyes closed. He is meticulously proactive in his declaration of state of emergency on security in his Local Government Area. It is imperative that the people are actively involved and encouragely committed to security effectiveness like Hon. Taufiq Isa is visibly seen to be doing in Ijumu Local Government Area
Note that security policy becomes ineffective if it is so restrictive that legitimate people involvement is threatened. A key to successful security implementation is finding a reasonable balance between the Government and people autonomy and convenience. The person responsible for finding that balance and actively promoting organizational security is the Government.
This is what Hon Taufiq Isa is nurturing and promoting in Ijumu Local Government Area. It is worthy of emulation and commendation.
Hon. Taufiq Isa is daily ensuring that his administration and the people are aware of their security roles, support security efforts, and are willing to tolerate the minor inconveniences that are inevitably a part of system change and improvement.
All these and many more is what Hon Taufiq Isa, the ALGON Chairman in Kogi State is doing towards resolving security challenges in Ijumu Local Government Area.
He is favourably complementing the equally huge efforts with tremendous achievements of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello in stamping out criminality, banditry and all other vices in Kogi State.
Ijumu people must as a matter of importance communicate to themselves that protecting and surporting the Local Government Chairman in his noble efforts is not only in their interests, but also in the best interest of generations yet unborn.
