The Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Justice Hussain Baba Yusuf is to declare the 2025 Abuja Peaceful Dispute Resolution Week otherwise known as Abuja Settlement Week open on July 7.
The Abuja Settlement Week is being put together by a non profitting making Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), in collaboration with the Abuja Multi-Door Courthouse (AMDC).
It is said to be part of the concerted efforts of stakeholders in the justice sector to promote peaceful dispute resolution through mediation in and its environs.
It will hold from 7th to 11th July 2025 at the Abuja Multi-Door Courthouse, High Court/JSC Complex, Gudu.

Settlement Week is said to be a flagship initiative that brings together mediators, legal
practitioners, institutions and the public to resolve disputes through mediation, a faster, more affordable and confidential alternative to court litigation.
According to the Chairman of the ICMC Abuja
Settlement Week Steering Committee, Mrs. Miriam Kombo-Ezeh “this is more than an event, it is a movement towards institutionalising peace in how we handle conflict.
She said in a statement on Sunday in Abuja that mediation offers an effective pathway to justice without bickerings and confrontation.”
According to the statement, the Abuja Settlement Week will feature free mediation sessions for family, workplace, land and commercial disputes.
It will also entails the deployment of trained neutrals for court-referred and walk-in cases while also showcasing awareness activities to educate the public on the benefits of
mediation, engagement with communities, professionals, and justice sector
stakeholders.
Organised under the auspices of the Honourable Chief Judge of the FCT, the Settlement Week reaffirms the judiciary’s commitment to promoting access to justice and peaceful co-existence across the Federal Capital Territory.
Stakeholders, mediators, legal practitioners, and the general public have been lined up
to be part of the societal peace restoring experience.
