Efforts to deliver Ganaja flyover bridge sacrosanct despite challenges – Engr. Abubakar Ohere

The Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere has expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work ongoing at the Ganaja flyover bridge, assured that efforts is on to deliver the project as promised not minding the challenges that has showed up.

Engr. Ohere spoke on the quality and project delivery date during a routine visit to the project site at the weekend, pointing out that the increase in the flow of traffic and the built up areas surrounding the Ganaja flyover bridge is likely to act as a hindrance to the completion date but said the Government is not resting on it oars to deliver as promised.

While noting that funds, materials and manpower is not an impediment to the ongoing construction work at the Ganaja flyover bridge, pointed out that the only challenge is the flow of traffic which increased in the ember Months.

The Commissioner observed increase in the Volume of traffic along the Ganaja flyover bridge, the area being an already built up area, as factors militating against the speed expected of the work adding that safety and economic activities of the people when brought into consideration by the government has affected the pace of work.

The Commissioner explained that there is a deliberate efforts not to take actions that would affect the economic life of people living around and doing business around the Ganaja flyover construction site by negating there interest, a development he pointed out has led to segmenting the work on the retaining walls, thus making the work move at slower pace.

The Commissioner however expressed confidence that inspite the challenges, efforts is ongoing not to allow it affect the date of delivery, expressed satisfaction that the quality of work on the bridge remains second to none and best in terms of standard.

The Commissioner described the Ganaja junction as an intersection that allows for heavy traffic leading to the North and Southern part of the State particularly as we approach the festive season, said the State Government is however being systematic with the construction of the work so as not to hinder flow of traffic particularly ahead the forthcoming yuletide.

He further explained that the State Government has made arrangements for more security reenforcement that would enable for construction work to take place during the night period so as to meet up with lost time occasion by the traffic and other economic activities that has affected the pace of work.

The Commissioner commended Gov. Bello for mobilizing FERMA to begin work on the Ganaja road which was earlier left abandoned months ago, added too that the work on the Ganaja road has also added to the hold up around the flyover bridge by also affecting the pace of work, but assured that efforts is on to still deliver the bridge at the promised date.

The Commissioner described Gov. Bello as an efficient manager of resources, a quality has had made it to execute project beating the imagination of many when compared with the inflow and resources accrued to the state.
