Public sitting on a law to provide for the establishment of Okunland International Nursing and Midwife School, Isanlu
Prof Isah Adagiri Yahaya, the CMD of Specialist Hospital Lokoja said Nursing profession is pivotal and indispensable to the medical profession. He also said that the establishment of the school will contribute to man power ,help quality research and increase employment in the state as well as create opportunities via teaching and non teaching. He noted that it is a welcome development and would stand the test of time
National Association of Nigerian MidWifew appreciated the sponsor of the bill ,saying is
an avenue for job opportunity.
Speaking, he said the
status of the Chairman of the governing board should be spelt out clearly. the founder cannot be the chairman of the governing Council, he should be a core professional
but Hon Kilani differs , saying all you need for such a position is to place someone who has the managerial skills
Lokoja 1 Representative Hon Umar Tanimu on his own said one who has money can establish a school and be made Chairman of the governing board.
Nurse Martina Oguche, Director Nursing said must be a registered Nurse is stipulated to be Chairman of Board. There is a guide line for it, adding that except the prop it ietor is a nurse .

An observer pointed out that the law did not talk about the place of practical and is surprised that where the power of the college seem to be competing with that of the technical. he is also not in agreement with the nomenclature given to the degree like diploma in nursing etc
In her presentation, Nurse Oguche on behalf of her perm sec observed that the proposed
name of the institution that has land, international are not meaningful, she advised it to be changed to Okun College of Nursing Sciences Isanlu.
She also spoke about the award to be given, in line with being a monothenic ND, HND Nursing.
Hamza Aliu speaking on behalf of Civil Society organization said it is a private issue and does not need a law or public sitting and therefore should be stepped down. It is a private entity.
But Chairman of Public Committee,Hon Barr Cosmos Atabor educated him , saying no institution can be established without being legislated on , saying Salem University was legislated on before being established. He thanked all contributors
