Kwara TV station to commence 24-hour service, says Commissioner

The Kwara state-owned Television Station has been renovated and equipped by the state Government to commence 24-hour service.
It would be recalled that the Television Station had not been operating optimally as a result of obsolete equipment, the sorry state the present administration met it.
The state Commissioner for Communications, Mrs Abosede Buraimoh, disclosed this on Tuesday in Ilorin, the state capital, while featuring on the Correspondents’ Chapel Media Parliament tagged “News Keg”.
Besides, she stated that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration is establishing a Radio Station in Okuta in the Kwara North Senatorial District to enable the people of the District to be hearing, for the first time, news about the state as against news they pick from foreign Radio Stations, adding that work on the Radio Station has reached 80 percent completion stage and would soon be fully operational.
Mrs Buraimoh further stated that about 600 State Universal Basic Education Schools (SUBEB) have been renovated and reconstructed by the state Government to enhance teaching and learning.
The Commissioner, who stated that the schools were renovated to meet national standard, said the state government would not relent in its efforts to continue to provide dividends of democracy for the people of the state, adding that such steps were intended to make the people have a sense of belonging and to also have the development they have been yearning for over the years.
She explained that the state government had also organised an Education Summit with a view to finding lasting solutions to challenges in the sector, adding that the state government has also rehabilitated and reconstructed a number of roads to make them motorable and life more convenient and comfortable for the citizenry.
On environmental sanitation, the Commissioner said the state government is working tirelessly to ensure that the state is clean, and, therefore urged the people to cooperate with government by ensuring they maintain a clean and healthy environment and not disposing their refuses anyhow, but properly in the containers provided by government.
On the flyover bridge being embarked upon by government at the Tanks area in Ilorin, Mrs Buraimoh said the decision was taken after due deliberations and consultations concerning the growing terrible traffic situation in the metropolis.
She said: “The traffic situation around the Tanke axis in the state is as a result of the influx of people and expanding nature of the population within the metropolis.
“The second flyover will not only improve traffic decongestion in the state, it will further add to the aesthetics of our infrastructure.
“Despite the construction of the flyover, the government will also embarke on other adjoining roads in the axis that linked other communities to massively decongest traffic.”
