NSCDC Commandant General to Nigerians: Security is everyone’s business

In the face of growing challenges in the country, particularly security, Nigerians have been called upon not to leave issues of security in the hands of the security agencies alone.

Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, made the call at Edidi, Isin local government area of Kwara State, while commissioning the Civil Defence Divisional Office donated by a philanthropist, Dr. Olatayo Abikoye.

According to the state spokesman of the NSCDC, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the Commandant General, who was on a working visit to Kwara State lauded the donor of the office, Dr. Olatayo Abikoye, for the kind gesture and for deeming it fit to assist in providing security for his people in particular and the entire State at large.

“Today, I specially want to appreciate the philanthropist who donated the office and I want to promise you all that we will make good use of the office. However, I want to seize this opportunity to reiterate that government and the security agencies are always ready to partner with well meaning individuals and corporate organisations who want to assist in combating security challenges that we are facing in the country,” the NSCDC CG added.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, appreciated the people of Edidi community, most especially the donor of the NSCDC office, Dr. Tayo Abikoye, charging other well meaning individuals in the State to emulate the kind and good gesture.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion included the NSCDC Commandant in Kwara State, Iskilu Ayinla Makinde, the donor Dr Tayo Abikoye, Isin Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairman, Hon. Tunde Fadipe, Eledidi of Edidi land, Oba Gabriel Kolawole Aboyeji, representatives of sister security agencies, and community leaders, among others.
