Fire razes building of seven flats in Kwara
*As father allegedly rapes own daughter

A late night inferno on Monday has been reported to have completely razed a building in Amayo, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara state.
The affected building, according to the spokesman of the state Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, comprised seven flats, all of which were completely burnt by the blazing inferno due to late alert to the firemen by the occupants of the building, adding that the fire was as a result of electric power surge.
Adekunle added that the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, has urged the general public to always promptly alert the Fire Service whenever there is fire incident in their neighborhoods, and not toy with anything concerning electricity.

In another development, a 47-year-old security guard, Jacob Obomerelu, has been arrested by the operatives of the Kwara state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly raping his 18-year-old biological daughter, Module Jacob, blaming his dastardly action on the devil.
According to the state spokesman of the NSCDC, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the incident occurred at the suspect’s workplace in Ilorin, the state capital, which also serves as his residence.
He said: “On Tuesday 7th December, 2021, we were tipped off by one Alhaja Mariam Bello, who claimed that Modupe who happened to be her adopted daughter was raped by her biological father, adding that the victim used to live with her at her Isale Gaa Akanbi residence but moved out to stay with her dad after little misunderstanding between her and the victim.
“Modupe had little misunderstanding with Alhaja who adopted her in 2017 when her mother separated from Jacob, her husband, and had since then been staying with the woman. The victim joined her father in the gatehouse where he was working as security guard and it was during the night of her first stay with her father that the incident occurred.
“Modupe narrated how she begged her father not to rape her. But all her pleas fell on the father’s deaf ear and later gave her N1,000 to buy drug to flush her system.
“In his confessional statement, Jacob, who hails from Edo State and father of four children, admitted to have committed the crime but blamed it on the devil as he was not really aware that he was doing it.”
The NSCDC spokesman said the state Commandant, Iskilu Ayinla Makinde, has been briefed of the incident, adding that the suspect would be charged to court on completion of investigations.
