Kogi Transport Commissioner Defends 2026 Budget, Highlights Major Projects Including International Airport

The Kogi State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Atuluku Victor Levi, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the state’s transport infrastructure.
Hon. Levi who made this known while speaking with Assembly Press Crew shortly after defending the Ministry’s 2026 budget before the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The Commsioner described the session as successful, noting that the proposed budget contains strategic projects designed to enhance mobility, boost economic activities, and modernise transportation systems across the state.
He explained that Lokoja, being the state capital, will serve as the model city for several intra-city transport initiatives captured in the budget.
“Intra-city commuting is well captured. Whatever we will do for the state begins with modeling from Lokoja.”
Hon. Levi while providing updates on the Kogi State International Airport, described it as one of the most significant and unprecedented projects undertaken by the present administration.
According to him, the airport’s design phase was fully provided for in the 2025 budget and has now been completed.
“With the building plan already in place, we are ready to move into the next phase converting what we have on paper into concrete reality,” he stated. “This is a very important project that Kogites and indeed the entire world will soon witness.”
The Commsioner assured that the 2026 fiscal year would mark a major step forward in bringing these transformative transport projects to life, promising that the Ministry remains committed to delivering systems that will improve the lives of citizens across Kogi State.
