The Kogi State House of Assembly has commended the Offices of the Auditor-General for the State and Local Government for the prompt submission of their reports in compliance with Section 125 (5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
Chairman of the Special/Standing Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Otokiti Alhassan Zakariya, gave the commendation during the appraisal of the 2025 Revised Budget performance and the defence of the 2026 Appropriation Bill at the Assembly Complex in Lokoja.
Hon. Zakariya said the timely submissions by the Office of the Auditor-General for the State and the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government have aided the legislature’s oversight responsibilities, assuring that the committee is critically examining the reports to ensure strict compliance with legislative directives and prudent management of public funds.
He appreciated the Speaker of the House for his leadership and support, as well as the cooperation of the offices of Auditor-General for State and Local Government, noting their commitment to transparency, accountability and improved service delivery.
The lawmaker also acknowledged the contributions of the Clerk of the committee, describing their support as vital to the effective work of the Public Accounts Committee.
