CIPM engages corps members on talent development

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) in Kwara State has engaged corps members at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the state on talent development as part of its youth engagement and talent development initiatives.
Speaking at the event, a Council Member of the institute and Chairman of the Young Professional Engagement Ad-hoc Committee, Engineer Sean Olabode Badiru, who led the team, said the visit was to sensitise corps members about CIPM as a professional body and viable talent pipeline, while also equipping them with essential skills needed to thrive in today’s workplace.
As part of the engagement, Engineer Badiru, accompanied by the Branch Chairman, Mrs. Azeezat Quadri Ibrahim, among other members, delivered a lecture, titled, “Essential People Management Skills”, where he shared practical insights on workplace behaviour, interpersonal effectiveness, teamwork, and leadership fundamentals.
Also speaking, the NYSC State Coordinator, Joshua Onifade, lauded the institute and the Kwara State Branch for enriching the camp’s lecture programme.
According to him, the orientation camp was designed to prepare corps members to become better and more responsible individuals, deliberately detached from the comfort of their parents’ apron strings.
He also said that the academic environment the corps members were coming from differed from the realities of the world of work they were about to face, making such professional interventions timely and valuable.
At the end of the session, the CIPM Kwara State Branch donated plastic chairs to the orientation camp, contributing to the improvement of facilities for corps members.
Meanwhile, as part of activities marking the conclusion of its pre-induction training, the CIPM in the state paid a courtesy visit to the founder of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Alhaji Chief Abdulraheem Oladimeji, to appreciate his contribution to education, human capital development, and the advancement of HR professionalism, particularly, through the establishment of Al-Hikmah University, the first private university in Kwara State.
In recognition of his achievements and impact, the CIPM branch conferred on Chief Abdulraheem Oladimeji the honour of Grand Patron of the CIPM Kwara State Branch.
In his response, Chief Oladimeji expressed appreciation for the honour and commended the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji, for his leadership and commitment to excellence.
In appreciation of the recognition, Chief Oladimeji donated the sum of ₦1,000,000 to the CIPM branch.
The branch reaffirmed its commitment to advancing HR professionalism in Kwara State under the IMPACT Agenda of the Mrs. Azeezat Quadri Ibrahim, MCIPM-led executive committee.
