Easter: Security tightened as police lead multi-agency patrol in Kwara

Residents of Kwara State have been assured of a safe and peaceful Easter celebration following a large-scale show of force led by the State Police Command across key parts of the State.
The operation, carried out on Saturday, was part of efforts by the Command, under the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, to prevent crime and boost public confidence before, during and after the festive period.
Security personnel drawn from multiple agencies, including the Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency, participated in the coordinated patrol aimed at deterring criminal activities.
The exercise, according to the State Commissioner of Police, followed directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen security presence nationwide during the Easter season.
Speaking on the operation, Adekimi said the deployment of officers and equipment across strategic locations was to send a strong message that criminal elements would find no hiding place in the state.
“This show of force is not only to reassure law-abiding residents of our readiness, but also to serve as a clear warning that Kwara will not be a safe haven for criminals,” he stated.
The police boss also commended the Inspector-General for his “visionary leadership and support,” while praising the collaborating agencies for their professionalism and teamwork during the exercise.
He added that the command would sustain the heightened security measures beyond the Easter celebrations to maintain peace and stability across the state.
The development comes amid increased security vigilance across the country as Christians prepare to mark Easter, a period that often witnesses heavy movement and large gatherings.
