“He for She” Award: Communications’ Commissioner lauds Gov AbdulRazaq

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, has congratulated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on the prestigious “HE for SHE” Award and recognition by the Women Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for promoting women inclusion and empowerment in Nigeria.
The Commissioner, in a statement, said the Award did not come as a surprise as AbdulRazaq is the first Governor in the country to have a female majority cabinet in his administration and to also deliberately mainstream gender inclusion in the state.
He said: “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is for everybody. There is nothing like gender insensitivity in his dictionary. This is even evident in the recent legislation which made it binding and necessary that there must be at least 35 percent women participation in the cabinet and public sector appointments.
“Women need not shy away from politics. The Governor needs your fresh ideas and intellect. He does not play with the issue of women at all and so this Award is not surprising at all, if anything, I am glad that this pacesetting act of his, is being acknowledged and appreciated, not just in Nigeria, but also worldwide as the Vice President of Liberia, Dr. Jewel Taylor, and a host of other dignitaries were there to hail our Governor, making our dear state, Kwara, to, again, be on the radar positively.”
While wishing the Governor greater landmark victories, Towoju stressed the need for the womenfolk to come out of their cocoons and utilise their God-given intelligence and talents so that Kwara State can become better for all.
