NUC accredits all 13 programmes of Muhammad Kamalud-deen Varsity

The pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU), Professor Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, has disclosed that the institution has secured full accreditation for all its submitted academic programmes, describing the feat as a major breakthrough in the institution’s short history.
Speaking during a press briefing in Ilorin on Tuesday, Professor Jimoh said the University recorded a 100 percent success rate after 13 programmes were assessed by the National Universities Commission in November 2025.
According to him, “all 13 programmes presented for accreditation successfully met national standards in curriculum quality, staffing strength, infrastructure and governance. This confirms that the University has crossed all major hurdles, including eligibility for NYSC mobilisation.”
The Vice-Chancellor explained that the institution, which received its provisional licence in June 2023, has made rapid progress within a short period, moving from a developmental phase to full academic operations.
“Through structured planning and strong institutional backing, we commenced academic activities in December 2023 after presenting 15 programmes for resource verification. Today, we are proud to say that we have achieved what many institutions strive for over a longer period,” he said.
Professor Jimoh further disclosed that the university recently underwent institutional accreditation by the NUC between April 20 and 22, 2026, as part of requirements for upgrading to a full operational licence.
“The exercise was successfully completed, with commendations from the evaluation team on our facilities, academic delivery, administrative structure and governance,” he noted.
He added that among universities licensed in 2023, Muhammad Kamalud-deen University stands out as the only one to have achieved programme accreditation so far.
Describing the milestone as a product of “institutional discipline, stakeholder support and divine grace,” the Vice-Chancellor said the university is now focused on expanding its academic scope and global relevance.
“Our vision is to evolve into a centre for academic excellence and digital innovation, a hub for research and entrepreneurship, and a globally recognised centre for Islamic teachings and heritage,” he said.
He revealed that plans are underway to introduce postgraduate programmes, strengthen international collaborations and deepen community engagement.
“We are not just producing graduates; we are nurturing individuals who are intellectually competent, morally upright and socially responsible,” Jimoh added.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the institution’s historical roots, noting that it was established to sustain the legacy of Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-deen Al-Adaby, founder of the Ansarul-Islam Society of Nigeria.
“This University is not merely a new institution; it is the continuation of a historic educational movement that bridges Islamic and Western education, tradition and innovation,” he said.
Professor Jimoh called on well-meaning Nigerians and education-focused philanthropists to support the university’s growth.
“We seek continued support to further develop this institution into a centre of excellence dedicated to promoting the enduring legacies of our founding father,” he appealed.
He also urged parents and guardians to consider the university for their wards, assuring that it offers affordable tuition alongside a strong commitment to quality education and moral values.
