Kogi Finance Commissioner Votes in APC Presidential Primary, Says Massive Turnout Shows Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027

As Millions of Nigerians turned out across the country on Saturday to participate in the All Progressives Congress [APC] presidential primary election, with large crowds recorded in Oke Meta, Ward 9 of Yagba East LGA, Kogi State.
The exercise in Ward 9 witnessed long queues and heavy political activity as party members and supporters gathered to cast their votes.
Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, led the mobilization and voted alongside constituents in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking after voting, Asiru described the turnout as a strong show of confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and the administration’s ongoing reforms.
He said the large participation was a clear demonstration of the APC’s nationwide strength and unity.
“Tinubu is the man to take the country to the land of prosperity. If not for his coming in 2023, the country would have been history,” Asiru stated.
He urged Nigerians not to abandon a government that has delivered results, saying the country has made remarkable progress across sectors under the current administration.
“Let’s not go back to the old. Nigeria has made remarkable progress. In all sectors, President Tinubu has added value. The largest turnout you see in Oke Meta Ward 9, Yagba East, and from the information reaching me across the country, is an indication that Nigerians are happy with Mr. President,” he said.
Asiru added that the turnout was an outpouring of love for the President and a sign that the 2027 election had already been decided in the minds of the people.
“This massive turnout is an outpouring of love, an indication that the presidential election is already taken,” he said.
The commissioner called on party members and citizens to remain united behind the administration’s policies and programmes aimed at economic recovery, infrastructure development, and national stability. He noted that continuity was necessary to consolidate the foundation laid in Tinubu’s first term.
The APC presidential primary across Kogi State was largely peaceful, with party stakeholders commending members for their orderly conduct and mobilization.
