Kwara 2027: APC ‘Thanksgiving Walk’ Signals Unity, Readiness– Alakawa

The ‘Thanksgiving Road Walk’ organised by the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday in Ilorin, the state capital, witnessed a large turnout of party faithful, including party chieftains, men and women groups, as well as youths.
The event was organised to
appreciate God, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership at the national and state levels for their support towards ensuring peaceful conduct of the party’s primary elections in the State.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of the Kwara State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Alhaji Abdullateef Alakawa, said the massive turnout of party faithful at the historic event was an indication of the party’s unity after the successful conduct of its primary elections, and its preparedness for victory at the polls ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Alakawa noted that the emergence of candidates through the direct primary system reflected the wishes of party members and demonstrated internal democracy within the ruling party.
“The people have spoken through the direct primary elections. We are grateful to God that the primaries were peaceful and successful, with our candidates emerging across the various positions,” Alakawa said.
According to him, the rally was not only a thanksgiving event but also an early mobilisation exercise for the 2027 polls, reaffirming the commitment and loyalty of all APC members in Kwara State to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Speaking on concerns raised by aspirants who did not secure party tickets, Alakawa insisted that the APC remains united, adding that reconciliation efforts has already begun to strengthen cohesion within the party.
“In every democratic process, there will be winners and others who may not emerge. As far as the APC is concerned, we have no losers. The party has already constituted a reconciliation committee, and we are confident all issues will be resolved,” he said.
Also speaking, the APC candidate for the Kwara North Senatorial District, Dr Ahmad Muhammad, also expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence in him during the primaries.
He commended President Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq for their leadership, particularly the decision to zone the party’s governorship ticket to Kwara North, describing it as a demonstration of fairness and inclusiveness.
“We appreciate the people of Kwara for giving Kwara North the opportunity to produce the next governor. Today’s rally demonstrates the confidence and support the people have for the leadership of Governor AbdulRazaq and the APC,” Muhammad said.
He expressed optimism that the APC would maintain its electoral dominance in the state during the next general elections.
“We are confident of victory. APC has continued to enjoy the support of the people, and we believe that will be sustained,” he added.
Similarly, the APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, Mr Olalekan Adewoye, thanked party leaders and members for nominating him as the party’s standard-bearer.
He described the APC as a united family and said the outcome of the primaries reflected the collective decision of party members across the state.
“I am grateful to God and to the leadership of our party for the confidence reposed in me. Without their support, this would not have been possible,” Adewoye said.
In his speech, the Majority Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Barrister Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, described the massive turnout at the thanksgiving walk as evidence of the unity and growing strength of the APC in the state.
“We are very happy. As you can see, everyone is in a joyous mood,” he said.
Abdulkadri maintained that the ruling party remained firmly positioned to retain control of the state in future elections.
“The future in Kwara State is APC from top to bottom, by the grace of Allah. The future is very bright,” he said.
He dismissed concerns about opposition parties, insisting that the APC would continue to consolidate on its achievements through unity and collective efforts.
“We are not afraid. As our leaders have said, there is practically no opposition in Kwara. We will continue to remain united and work together for the progress of the party and the state,” Abdulkadri stated.
