Bishop Dr John Ibenu of Chapel of Freedom International Churches, has urged Nigerians to inspire hope and contribute positively to national development instead of dwelling on the nation’s challenges and blaming the system.

Bishop Ibenu at a press conference in Lokoja, commended the efforts of government at various levels and acknowledged the difficulties confronting the country.

The cleric said that while citizens had legitimate concerns, national progress would be accelerated if individuals and organisations complemented government efforts through positive actions and community service.

Ibenu, a former Kogi CAN Chairman, said the ministry had remained committed to improving the welfare of the people through quality and affordable education, scholarship programmes, road maintenance projects, free medical services and the distribution of food items and clothing to vulnerable members of society.

According to him, the church’s humanitarian interventions are aimed at demonstrating that development should not be left entirely in the hands of government.
Ibenu cited the ministry’s recently concluded “Food for Everyone” programme as one of its initiatives designed to alleviate hardship and provide support for needy families.

The bishop said that although government was faced with enormous challenges, its efforts deserved recognition and encouragement rather than constant criticism.

He also commended security agencies in Kogi for their commitment to maintaining peace and security despite prevailing challenges.
“I understand the challenges confronting government and the security agencies. We are all affected by the unrest witnessed in different parts of the country, and that is why we must continue to support and encourage those working to maintain peace and order,” he said.

Ibenu expressed hope that security personnel would be provided with additional resources, equipment and support to enhance their effectiveness in safeguarding lives and property.

Speaking on the forthcoming conference organised by the ministry, the bishop said participants would be taught how to reign in life through the power of God and wisdom, describing education as one of the most valuable assets for personal development and societal transformation.

“Education is one of the most significant currencies. It is the most important tool for emancipation,” he said.

The cleric noted that wisdom remained essential to success and responsible leadership, adding that it equips individuals with the knowledge and understanding required to navigate life’s challenges.

He said the conference would focus on empowering participants spiritually and intellectually, with teachings designed to promote moral values, discipline and purposeful living.

According to him, his wife, Rev. Mrs. Ibenu, will deliver a presentation on “Reigning Family”, with emphasis on raising a younger generation that listens, learns and obeys positive values.

He said the session would address the importance of strong family structures and parental guidance in shaping responsible future leaders.

The bishop added that the conference would hold concurrently with a free medical check-up programme sponsored by the ministry as part of its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the people.

He expressed optimism that the conference would inspire participants to embrace education, wisdom and godly principles as tools for personal growth, family development and national transformation.
