

Residents and traders of Timber Garage, Zango Daji in Lokoja today showered praises on Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, describing him as a perpetual promise keeper after fulfilling his pledge to provide a new electricity transformer within four days.
Recall that the Governor had, on Friday, July 3, 2026, while on his way to inspect the Lokoja-Zango Road and order a clampdown on tax-evading miners, stopped to listen to the plight of residents who appealed to him over their damaged electricity transformer, which had plunged the community and Timber Market into darkness for about three months.
Moved by their appeal, Governor Ododo immediately assured the community that a replacement transformer would be delivered within four days.
True to his word, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Governor fulfilled the promise with the delivery of a brand-new 500KVA transformer, restoring hope to hundreds of traders and residents who had endured months without electricity.
Presenting the transformer for immediate installation on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Rural and Energy Development, Engr. Muhammed Abdulmutalib, represented by his Technical Assistant, Alhaji Isah Hussaini Sule, said the gesture once again demonstrated Governor Ododo’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the people through the provision of essential infrastructure.
He noted that the transformer would significantly improve electricity supply, stimulate economic activities, enhance security, and accelerate development within the community.
The Commissioner commended Governor Ododo for fulfilling his promise without delay and urged residents to collectively protect the transformer against vandalism so that it would continue to serve both present and future generations.
The presentation sparked jubilation across Timber Market as beneficiaries applauded the Governor for what they described as uncommon humility and responsive leadership.
The President of the Timber Market Association represent Ed by, Mr. Victor Ojukwu, expressed overwhelming gratitude, saying the community was “100 percent happy” because Governor Ododo had demonstrated a rare culture of making promises and keeping them.
According to him, many residents initially doubted that the promise would be fulfilled within the stipulated time, but the Governor exceeded expectations by delivering exactly when he said he would.
