BREAKING: HON. KARIMI STEVE PROMISES RE-INTRODUCTION OF EDUCATION GRANT TO STUDENDTS OF KOGI WEST IN HIGHER INSTITUTIONS.
Relief appears to be coming on the way of students of Kogi West Origin in Tertiary institutions as Hon. Karimi Sunday Steve announces his plan to reintroduce ‘KARIMI EDUCATION SUPPORT INITIATIVE”
This was revealed during a courtesy visit to Hon. Karimi by a group of students under the umbrella of Concern Okun Students in Abuja on Sunday 13th February 2022.
The former Lawmaker while appreciating the group for their support, announced the reintroduction of his Education Support initiative which is a grant to support students of Kogi West extraction in Public tertiary institutions across the country, he said the education initiative will cover the students’ tuition fee, which will be paid directly to individual institutions.
Karimi said the committee handling the education initiative is already working out modalities with relevant bodies and institutions on data collection and collation.
According to Hon. Karimi, among the relevant documents required from prospective beneficiaries, are:
(a) Copy of Applicant’s Last Semester result;
(b) Copy of School Identity Card;
(c) Copy of letter/certificate of Local Government of Origin,
(d) Copy of Applicant’s Voters Card
(e) Copy of Applicant’s National Identity Card.
“The above requirements are needed for proper verification and documentation to avoid the experience we had with similar support initiative to students in Higher Institutions when I was in the House of Of Representatives”
“We are changing the modalities because it is very sad to note that our people forget so easily whatever you have done no matter how huge, I give out so many funds supporting the education of students daily but without records.
Hence it is important we formalise my efforts with proper documentation and also to enable the public to know about what we are doing.” Karimi explained.
Hon. Karimi also mentioned that the process which will commence in April will be technologically driven, and has no political inclination because the motive is to provide relief for indigent students.
Responding on behalf of the students’ group, the leader of the group James Oloni thanked Hon. Karimi for the proposed initiative, says his magnanimity and generosity will go a long way to save the education of many students.
Recall that Hon. Karimi had invested heavily in the education of students of Yagba Federal Constituency origin through his Education Support initiative where over 400 students of about 10 students per ward were beneficiaries in 2017.
