

Kogi: Motorists, Commuters hails FG for rehabilitating Ganaja road
Motorists and computers plying the ever busy Ganaja, Ganaja village road has commended the Federal Government for rehabilitating the road after which was earlier abandoned by contractors handling the project.
They gave the commendation recently while speaking on the rehabilitation of Ganaja, Ganaja village road in Lokoja, Kogi State that is almost completed.
It could be recalled that, over the years, the road has not gain government attention which made life difficult for motorists and commuters plying the road.
This road is a transit point to some prominent housing units in Lokoja namely Ganaja, Gadumo, commissioners quarter, peace community, first and second 200 housing unit, and 500 housinng unit.
When the government finally awarded the road to be fixed due to it bad state, the contractors handling the project did note finish the job and abandoned the project for more than one year.
This ugly development attracted wadata investigative media in 2021 to look into the alleged corrupt practices by the contractors who abandoned the road.
During wadata media investigation, the attention of the Federal and State Government we’re drawn to look into the project, in a bid to see the level of work done by the contractor and to ascertain if the contract should be terminated or sustained.
To further ascertain the half baked work done by the contractor handling the project, more than five persons in 2021 lost their lives in one of the portion of the road dug by the contractor since it was abandoned.
Shortly after wadata investigative report about the abandoned road projec, the contractors returned to site and the project is about 90 percent completed.
Motorist and commuters who spoke to wadata media investigative team lauded wadata media for putting contractors on their toes to finish the project.
They said the continuous airing of Kpuff corruption on Grace FM Lokoja is indeed yielding positive result towards combating corruption in Kogi State.
” We are very happy with the level of work done in the Ganaja, Ganaja village road project. Before now, this road used to be in a bad shape.
This road was earlier abandoned by the contractor which caused a lot of pains on motorist and commuters plying this route. A trip which is not supposed to be more than 15 minutes turns out to be up to one hour because the road is very bad.
“This road is a transit point to many states and is located in the heart of the State capital. Am happy that the road is almost completed after the contractors returned back to work. I must commend the Federal and the Kogi State for making this thing to happen.
” It is important for all of us to note that when you abandoned a work which you have been paid to do is corruption. Government should endeavour to monitor contractors handling any project for them. Any one that is not meeting up to their expectation should be revoked” they added.
According to them, the war against corruption would be won if leaders and followers leave a transparent life that is devoid of any forms of sharp practices.This according to them should be sustained, as they appeal to government at all level to put aside party lines and ensure that, projects that was kick-started by previous government is completed by the government in power.
