The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested two men for allegedly operating an unlicensed private security outfit, Double Razzor, in the State.
The suspects, identified as Abraham Stephen Job and Adebowale Qazeem Adeniyi, were arrested following an investigation into the activities of the outfit, particularly its alleged lack of the necessary licence and authorisation to provide bouncer and other private security services.
A statement by the Command’s spokesman, ASC 1 Ayoola Michael Shola, said the alleged offences include operating a private security company without the requisite licence and providing regulated security services without statutory authorisation, contrary to laws governing private guard companies in Nigeria.
The NSCDC explained that it has the statutory responsibility to regulate and license private guard companies, stressing that individuals and organisations must obtain the necessary approvals before engaging in regulated private security operations.
Meanwhile, the State Commandant, Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to enforcing compliance and preventing unauthorised security operations across Kwara State.
He urged event organisers, corporate organisations and members of the public to engage only duly licensed private security providers to ensure that security services are delivered within the provisions of the law.
The Command warned that compliance with regulatory requirements was essential to maintaining accountability in the private security sector and safeguarding lives and property.
It added that it would sustain efforts to sanitise the sector and ensure that private security operators in the state operate within the established legal framework.
