Mallam Suleiman Aguye, a House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, has promised his constituents of qualitative legislative representation if elected in 2023 national assembly election.
Aguye gave the assurance at the Media Parley organised by the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ) Kogi State council on Tuesday in Lokoja.
”I am presenting myself as one of the best candidates to represent Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency.
”If I win, I pray to Almighty God to direct me, to do the right thing. I promised my people of quality representation and I assure them that they will have maximum access to me,” he said.
The APC frontline aspirant assured that his people would be proud of him in terms of women and youth empowerments if he was given the opportunity to represent them at green chamber.
On insecurity, Aguye said that he would consolidate on the achievements of the two local government councils chairmen in his constituency in curbing insecurity in the areas.
Aguye, a former Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment, reiterated his commitment to building the capacity of youths and women in the constituency.
He said that he had paid the JAMB fees for about 400 less privileged students, to ease their financial burden and make sure they realise their educatuonal dreams, stressing that he would do more if given the mandate opportunity to represent them.
Earlier, the NUJ Chairman, Kogi council, Alh. Adeiza Momohjimoh, described the occasion as the constitutional responsibility entrusted on journalists to ask aspirants their agenda for their constituents.
He added that it is also a process through which the electorate would put their elected representatives to task, if they failed in fulfilling their promises.
Adeiza urged members to give the occasion the desired publicity to encourage other aspirants to come forward to avail their agenda to their constituents in seeking for their votes.
“If we give much publicity to this aspirant, other aspirants will see it, andcthey will be motivated to come forward and the aims and objectives of the parley will be realised,” he said.
On his part, the Chairman, Planning Committee of the NUJ Media Parley, Mr Jerry Ocheme, also advised journalists to give much enthusiasm to the occasion, assuring them of more of such events towards 2023 general elections.
