Gov. Bello commends Federal Ministry of Women Affairs over empowerment

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has commended President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government for it’s commitment in empowering Women and People living with disabilities across the Country.

Governor Bello gave the commendation on Thursday during the empowerment of Women, Widows, petty traders, and women with disabilities and the flag-off for the distribution of agricultural items to Women farmers in Kogi State by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.

Bello, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Edward David Onoja said the present administration has continued to uplift the lives of People, stressing that, many Nigerians have been lifted out of poverty through policies initiated by the present administration.

The Governor noted that, his administration has brought sense of belonging to vulnerable people in Kogi State, adding that, in the history of Kogi State, his administration remains the only one that has greatly made impact on Women and People living with disabilities.

Bello described women as the powerful political block in any country, stressing that, when given the opportunity to lead Nigeria, he would build on the legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari.

While calling on Nigerians to look towards a leader that would unite and secure the Country for good, Governor Bello, however, commended the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in the State, Hajia Fatima Kabir Buba for always ensuring that women benefit from all programmes that would improve their lives and family.

Earlier in her address, the Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Fatima Kabir Buba said if Nigeria must eliminate poverty, hunger for all children, women and men, there is need to empower women since they remain the bedrock of any nation.

” In spite the fact that, women are about half of the population in the world yet they often are not allowed to play the decision makers role in many professions, farming inclusive. Women Empowerment is a signification and vital issue that must be discussed and reflect upon as we are gathered here today.

“It may interest you all to know without mincing words and to state emphatically that Kogi State Women are industrious, enterprising, hardworking and above all versatile especially in the Agricultural Sector of the economy.

“The empowerment and items we are distributing today were donated by the Federal Government and powered by Kogi State Government. This gesture will go along way in improving the lives of our women farmers and all the beneficiaries of the empowerment, thereby enabling them to contribute their quota to the economy of the State and the Country as a whole”.

She enjoined all the beneficiaries of the empowerment to ensure that these items are used for the purpose they were distributed, warning that, they are not to be sold or used for irrelevant purposes.

Buba, however, Governor Yahaya Bello for believing strongly in the empowerment of women and prompt release of fund for the empowerment.

Goodwill messages, were however delivered by the Kogi State Commissioner for Commerce and industry Gabriel Olofu and Kogi State Commissioner for Agriculture Hon. David Apeh.

Highpoint of the event was cash donation to petty traders, Widows, People with disabilities, across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
