
The staff of the 21 Local Government Councils in Kogi State has been charged to emulate and imbibe the starling qualities of fairness, thoroughness, Honesty, Accountability and Integrity of the immediate past Permanent Secretary, Alh. Yahaya Musa Omoyi, of the Local Government Service Commission.
The encomium was passed on Alh. Yahaya Omoyi by the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Adams Adabenege at the Unity Hall of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Lokoja during reception organized to honour the Former Permanent Secretary.
Hon. Adams Adabenege said that Alh. Yahaya Omoyi has impacted positively on the life of many people in his public and private life and urged the management staff of the Councils to borrow a leaf from the outgone Permanent Secretary.
The Commission reminded the management staff of the 21 Councils in the state to continue to maintain and sustain their unity which is worthy of commendation for other staff to emulate.
In a remark, the Director General of Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Bar. S.J. Ihimonyi described Alh. Yahaya Omoyi as disciplined and committed technocrat who has moved Local Government Commission and Local Government Councils to enviable position in Kogi State.
Bar. Ihimonyi appreciated the honour done to outgone Permanent Secretary and maintained that his exit from State Civil Service is to catapult him to the Federal level for continuation of meritorious service.
In their goodwill messages, the DLG – Okehi LGA, Mr. J.O. Sule, Engineer Farouk Yahaya and Alh. A.B. Kashim of the Audit Review Committee for Local Government, Mr. James Tuesday, Yagba East Treasurer and Mrs. Idowu Adetutun of the Commission, all described Alh. Yahaya Musa Omoyi as a dignified Civil Servant who has retired but not tired as his humane disposition did not abdicate his responsibility for social opportunism as he believed in competence and served government meritoriously during his working career.
They maintained that Alh. Yahaya Omoyi’s culture of integrity, transparency and an astute due process officer has made him a rare gem and pacesetter in Kogi State.
In his response, Alh. Yahaya Musa Omoyi said, he was short of words for the love shown to him and felt sobered for inadequately not have performed as he expected.
The former Permanent Secretary said that all the praises and encomium powered on him are for Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello who gave him the opportunity to serve the state at the level to his retirement.
He again appreciated the Commission Chairman, Hon. Adams Adabenege and his members for their understanding and cooperation that have contributed to the success of the Commission and described as excellent his working relationship with the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs while in service. The reception of the Former Permanent Secretary was organized by the Forum of the Directors of Local Government and Treasurers and facilitated by the Chairperson of the Special Audit Committee on the Review and harmonization of financial regulations and guidelines of Local Government in Kogi State, Hajia Habibat Tijjani Oyiza who doubled as the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The DLG for Bassa LGA who is the Chairman of DLGs Forum in Kogi State, Alh. Abdullahi Salihu stated that Alh. Yahaya Omoyi was a listening officer and strict adherence to extant Civil Service rules and regulations that endeared him to the Civil Servants where he has served.
He maintained that the staff of the 21 Local Governments were proud of his landmark achievements and promised that they will follow his footsteps in their services to their fatherland and state.
Alh. Abdullahi Salihu applauded the ingenuity of the Special Audit Review Committee Chairperson, Hajia Habibat Tijjani Oyiza for being a model in uniting staff of the 21 Local Government Councils.
