Kogi Assembly passes bill on environment health science to provide legal framework for a healthy and hygienic surroundings in the state.
History was made on the floor of the 7th assembly in the Kogi State House Of Assembly, on Thursday, August 25th, 2022, as bill on environment health science successfully scaled through the third reading.
The bill was sponsored by the indefatigable, strategic, cornucopia, and competent honourable member, representing Ijumu constituency, Hon. Olusola Kilani Olumo. He prayed for repeal and reenactment of Kogi state environment Health and other matters connected therewith into law.
Hon. Olusola Kilani Olumo sponsored the bill to repeal the law passed by the 5th Assembly, and to provide for establishment of a body to regulate environmental sanitation law. The gravity of environmental pollution and its consequences to enable widespread and outbreaks of diseases, which can constitute serious threats to good health of the people, craves the adoption of the bill.
With the mission to recreate a cleaner environment, the bill was cosponsored by the state government under the mantle of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, who is dedicatedly focused on giving a new direction government to the people of the state.
The bill that had passed through the first, second, public, and third readings, had been forwarded to the Governor for ascent into law.
Hon. Olusola Kilani Olumo, prayed for the enactment of the bill into law, so as to repeal the sanitation and waste management board law 2013, and to reenact a law on the establishment of Kogi State Sanitation and Waste Management Board, and also, to provide for the enactment of “Kogi Environmental Health Law” and other matters connected therewith.
If this bill received the ascent of the state government, environmental sanitation, will be the duty of all and sundry. And this will ensure procreation of a clean environment in Kogi state.
