

“As monarch marks 20 years on throne, celebrates 60th birthday
The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Kwara state, Waziri Yakubu Gobir, has lauded the Onipe of Ipee community, Oba Muftau Adebayo Lawal, in Oyun local government area of the state, for his developmental strides in his community, particularly for bringing unprecedented development among the women and youths of Ipee community.
Gobir gave the commendation at Ipee on the occasion of special celebrations of the monarch’s 20th Anniversary on the throne of his forefathers, as well as his 60th birthday celebration.
The YPP governorship candidate, who had just concluded his campaign tour of Oyun and Offa local government areas ahead of the 2023 general elections, returned to Ipee for the monarch’s special celebrations alongside his running mate, Bolujoko George.
Expectedly, the arrival of the governorship candidate provoked a thunderous ovation from the enthusiastic crowd, with chants of “Sai Gobir” and “Alaaanu Ti De” rending the air as the philanthropist of note moved to congratulate the revered monarch.
As part of activities to mark the epoch making event as prescribed by tradition and custom, the locals gave a booming 21-artillery-gun salute in honour of the monarch at the event which held at Ipee Baptist LGEA Primary Playing Ground. The event was graced by the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Mohammed Gbadamosi Oloyede Esuwoye II, other First Class and Second Class monarchs across the state, including the Onipe-In-Council.
During the ceremony, the Onipe of Ipee also conferred chieftaincy titles on no fewer than seven eminent personalities. They were crowned as Otun Bashorun of Ipee.
The YPP governorship candidate later visited the Spiritual Father, Al-Imam Muhyiddin Salman Husayn, the Chief Imam of Offa land for his blessings.
