The Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr George Moghalu, said he has approved a training programme for NIWA staff retiring from service to enable them face life after retirement.
Moghalu stated this on Wednesday during the end of the year get-together held at the headquarters of the agency in Lokoja.
He also assured that the welfare of the staff would continue to be his priority and warned that the authority will not tolerate indolence and laziness from staff members of the authority.
“The authority intends to introduce better incentive and welfare to our staff in the new year 2023. There should be a positive response with dedication and commitment to hardwork and not indolence and laziness.
“As head of this agency, I want to assure you that I will improve on what I have done in 2022. Be rest assured that we are in this together and the management will see to it that our salaries are increased next year by God’s grace.
“For better retirement life, I have approved a training programme for NIWA staff retiring to prepare them for live after service.” The MD stated.
Moghalu presented to each of the eight retirees of the authority a cash reward of N100, 000 and a picture each.
Earlier, the General Manager Legal service/company secretary Barrister Danladi Ibrahim described hard work, dedication to work is the secret of every success in life and urged the staff of the agency to be committed to enable government do more for them in the area of welfarism.
