Kogites will be going to the polls by November 11th, 2023 to elect a brand new executive governor who will pilot the affairs of the state after the expiration of the tenure of Governor Yahaya Bello, whose tenure ends on 27th January, 2024.
The people of Kogi State are today confronted with array of aspirants jostling for the exalted number one seat in the state, but truly speaking, one of these aspirants Senator Yakubu Oseni stands out better than any others in the pack. There is no doubt that, Senator Yakubu Oseni has better experience, attributes, exposure and capabilities than his peers that look forward to occupy the coveted seat. Yakubu Oseni is a Nigeria politician and a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi State. He was elected in February 2019 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was born in 1975 and hails from Adavi L.G.A. He is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Cybercrime and ICT.
The political situation in Kogi State is currently and gradually building up and several Kogites have put in strong desire to search for credible, honest, kind-hearted and result-oriented individual with impeccable track record that will lead them.
It has been the position of Kogites irrespective of their ethnic or religious inclination that Senator Oseni has better chances to clinch the governorship seat due to his past and present track record in term of service to humanity.In the last four years or thereabout (from 2019 to date) Senator Yakubu Oseni has been representing Kogi Central at the Senate. Earlier in life, he worked as a bank executive as well as executive chairman, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service where he performed outstandingly well and this really prompted the people to ask him to proceed to the National Assembly to serve them, but today the clarion call is becoming clearer and louder that he should throw his hat in the ring and contest for the position of the governor of the state.It should be noted that Senator Oseni is a man who has street credibility, focused, consistent and disposed to the daily yearnings of his people.
His success story at the 9th Senate has been very remarkable which include provision of good roads, solar power energy and human capacity development. One of his priorities is to promote education. He has sponsored bills that will move Nigeria forward such bills include: the establishment of University of Steel in Kogi State as well as a bill to upgrade the Federal College, Okene to a university status.Also, Senator Oseni has provided succor to the poor through his poverty alleviation programme. He is noted to have intervened in the provision of water to the people of Kogi Central in the last four years by sinking motorized boreholes across the five local government areas of the Senatorial District.Most importantly too is that, he has always be in the news calling on the federal government and other stakeholders to quickly intervene in the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Industry which will transform Nigeria to world economic power.
Many young people and women in the senatorial district have been lifted above poverty line with Senator Oseni’s ingenious initiative, impacting life-changing skills in the people with its attendant positive multiplier effects which will surely outlive the tenure of Senator Oseni.He has facilitated different state and federal government jobs for many young people in his constituency.Some of the bills moved by him include: Solid Minerals Producing Areas Development Agency bill, Solid Minerals Development Bank bill, Institute of Computer Forensic of Nigeria bill and other motions bordering on the security and economy of Nigeria.He facilitated the construction of Upogoro-Agassa road, drainage and bridges that leads to Government Day Secondary School, Anyava.He built a skill acquisition centre at Okene for the training of tailors, carpenters, hair dressers, vulcanizers, plumbers and soap and detergent makers.Also, Senator Oseni built blocks of classrooms, ultra-modern ICT centre equipped with solar power generation facilities, provision of stationeries and computer sets across his constituency.
As Kogi State march towards electing the next governor, strong effort should be made by all the delegates in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party where Senator Oseni belongs to support him by voting for him. This is the only way the best can come out of him. He is fully ready to serve the entire state. He is ready too to move the people out of the woods and lead them to prosperity.Meanwhile, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) Kogi State chapter has signed up through lobby and canvass to support the aspiration of Senator Yakubu Oseni to become the next governor of the state. Also, the CNPP is using this medium to call on the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and other topnotch members in APC from Kogi State to rally round Senator Oseni to fly the flag of APC in the next governorship election, so that he can continue the good works of His Excellency.Senator Yakubu Oseni has been known for his strong commitment and passion for the growth and development of Kogi State in the last couple of years.
