2023: NNPP Will Form Government In Kwara- Chairman

By Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin

The chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kwara State, AbdulRasaq AbdulSalam has vowed that the party will form government in the state come 2023.

AbdulSalam spoke in Ilorin, the state capital on Monday shortly after the inauguration of the executive committee of the party in the state.

The chairman’s stance was corroborated by the national women leader of NNPP, Dr. Maryam Yasin, who said the party has all it takes to win elections at both the state and national levels during the next general elections.

Yasin, however, sought more roles for women in governance at all levels, saying that Nigeria is blessed with women of high education and moral standard.

“The NNPP prioritises women and youth emancipation. This is the reason why I joined the party. Women should be given the opportunity to serve Nigeria at higher authorities. NNPP will take Nigeria out of the woods. We are up to the task,” Yasin added.

The NNPP chairman, who noted that Nigerians and Kwarans were tired of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), said: “Those of us in NNPP are former members of PDP and APC and we are on rescue mission as the two domineering parties have disappointed Nigerians and our people in Kwara State.”

AbdulSalam who said the NNPP is on ground in all the 193 wards in Kwara state added: “Enough of PDP and APC. We are going to form government of this state in 2023. We are on ground in all the 193 wards of the state.”

He thanked members and supporters of NNPP for giving him and other elected executives the opportunity to serve the party, assuring them that the party will spring surprises in the coming general elections.

Earlier, the chairman of the dissolved caretaker committee of the party, Alatare Musa, had said that the stakeholders had agreed to pick the party’s state executives through consensus arrangement, adding that the chances of NNPP winning the elections in Kwara and Nigeria are very high and bright.

Other people elected as party’s state executives included Elder Samuel Stanley (vice chairman), Abdullahi Nasamu (secretary), Esther Aremu (women leader), Olsunkanmi Ereoye (youth leader), Ganiyat Atoyebi (treasurer) and Sola Muse (publicity secretary).
