Ajaokuta Steel revival: Our efforts are yielding results- Senator Oseni
The Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Yakubu Oseni has reassured the Nigerian people that the efforts of stakeholders who, over the years, have sought the revival of Ajaokuta Steel company in order to place Nigeria on the path of sustainable industrial development is beginning to pay off.
Senator Oseni made this known recently while reacting to the eventual inauguration of members of Ajaokuta Presidential Project and Implementation Team (APPIT) in Abuja last Monday being 11th day of May, 2020.
The lawmaker who disclosed that the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari is sincerely committed to diversification of the economy, noted that his various interactions with relevant authorities immediately after assumption of office as Senator have been dotted with fruitful resolutions.
With the inauguration of this committee which succeeded the historic participation of Nigeria delegation at the Russia-Africa Summit last year in Sochi, the Senator stressed that Nigeria’s mono-economy would be expanded thereby reducing the rate of unemployment and underemployment in the country.
“This period when humanity and the world economy have been threatened by the ravaging COVID-19 presents a unique opportunity for us as a nation to ease over concentration on the crude oil. I am delighted that the President has expeditiously risen to address this challenge by this intervention which the process, of course has commenced since inauguration of this government,” he said.
Senator Oseni congratulated Nigerians especially his constituents who he said had remained dogged in their demand for revival of the steel complex which went moribund for more than three decades.
“It is a cheering news for my constituents particularly my ever energetic youths that the wait is finally over.
Despite the conspiracies against the project over the years, some of you remained resolute and expectant that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
“Those of you who didn’t lose faith in the revival of the steel complex and continued in welding and steel-related vocation will definitely have your place in the complex. You have displayed your readiness to work by persevering in learning more skills in the steel industry and Ajaokuta Steel company that formed the basis of your encouragement when it bounces back to life in no distant time,” the lawmaker said.
Senator Oseni consequently congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello and the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr Ado Ibrahim for their various contributions, adding that it is historical that the gigantic steel project bounces back to life in their respective reigns as Executive Governor of the state and Paramount ruler of Ebiraland.
It would be recalled that Senator Yakubu Oseni, while seeking the mandate of the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District in 2019, promised to genuinely seek productive engagement and partnership with relevant government authorities for revival of Ajaokuta steel complex. He has since matched his words with work by placing the desires of his people at the front burner in his legislative engagement.
