AMURO 2020 NEW YAM FESTIVAL CELEBRATION : THE CULTURE & NORMS,
OUR BOUND IN UNITY.
Amuroland is a combination of seven community leaves together in love, unity, oneniness, same way of life, practice same culture as a one big family, Amuro is a home with seven children from the same parents, each community symbolize an arrow in seven places that formed our POT of UNITY called or known as Akume’je amuro in Mopamuro local government Area of kogi state !
The new yam festival celebration day is usual seventh day of the month of July popularly known as 7/7 !
Our culture didn’t give room for amuro person or non-indegene that leaves on our land to eat or display new yam in the market square/public space before the official date marking the celebration of the arrival of the new yam, this is been done in uniform Simouthenously every year in all the seven community as a practice, norms laid down by the father and mother of Amuro kindom ( Amuro parents )

2.Takete-ide Amuro
3. Ayieteju/agbajogun-Amuro
4. Ayedayo/oroke-Amuro
5. Ayiede-Amuro
6. Otafun-Amuro
7. Okagi-Amuro
This celebration always withness cultural display, special prayer for the community, blessings for the individual in the community, sacrifice is been offered to avert/stoppage of any calamity on her children both at home and diaspora, testimony too is not left out of special development of her children !
The traditional institutions is saddled with this responsibility, on this day my grandfather of blessed memory ( late Ajayi Aberedi Egere ) will put on his best and costly attire with his countenance in happy mood, i used to leverage on a day like this to come in asking/demand for anything i want from grandpa specially to me and express approval is given immediately unlike you don’t get on ordinary day !
Different compound head and youths is seen celebrating, dancing and displaying of the new yam, at my grandpa’s ( compound, Oketaro ) the new yam will be cooked, slice in a flat wide plat with red oil to commenced eating, some place is a very hot pounded yam with egunsi soup majorly and so on !
I congratulate all amuro sons and daughters on this year 2020 new year festival celebration today, may this celebration bring us peace, development and uncommon blessing on every souls of Amuro both at home or in diaspora, my prayer for amuro today is peace, progress and development by God’s grace, may the God Almighty in his infinity and the Aboriginals of amuro accept our prayers and request today !
