BARRISTER LADI COMMENDS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, GYB, WORLD BANK ON NEWMAP PROJECTS -Adeniyi Sunday.
The Kogi State co-ordinator of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project(NEWMAP) Barrister Ladi Jatto has commended the Federal Ministry of Environment, Gov Yahaya Bello and World Bank for financing the implementation of several erosion and flood control projects in Kogi State.
Barrister Ladi made the commendation during the inspection and assessment of NEWMAP projects with the World Bank team led by Dr Amos Abu, the National Co-ordinator Dr Dahiru Salisu, the Commissioner for Environment Hon Victor Omofaiye and top functionaries of State and Federal Ministries and Parastatals.
Speaking further, Barr Ladi stated that the NEWMAP projects have direct impact on the lives of the people commending the standard of equipment and materials used, urging the contractor to complete the projects within the stipulated period.
She appreciated the Attah lgala HRM Idakwo Ameh Oboni, the Ohinoyi of Ebira HRM Alh. Ado Ibrahim, the Ochogu of Ogugu HRH Emmanuel Salifu and other Traditional Rulers for their support to NEWMAP admonishing the people to maintain the projects as their own stressing that other erosion sites will be captured and addressed.
The World Bank representative Dr Amos Abu said that the materials used for the projects were of world standard capable of lasting for 100 years, commending Barr Ladi for being a tireless worker.
He enjoined the contractor to expedite action, display competence and consistency calling for more accelerated and ambitious activities on sites.
Dr Dahiru Salisu the National project co-ordinator of NEWMAP expressed confidence that erosion will be tackled counting on the Royal Fathers for their support towards the success of the projects.
He enjoined the contractor to increase the work force and furnish him with detailed photographs of work done adding that Kogi State is ahead of many states in projects implementation.
The Commissioner for Environment Hon Victor Omofaiye stated that the team had come to inspect and assess the level of project implementation charging the consortium to expedite action.
