Dr Zakari Usman, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) Kogi State Hospitals Management Board (KSHMB), has cautioned the staff of the board against lateness to work and absenteeism, urging them to be diligent and hardworking.
Zakari gave the advice at a meeting held with all the management and staff of the board at the Conferences hall, State Secretariat in Lokoja on Monday.
Zakari commended those few staff who had been very diligent to duty and professional in their conduct, urging them to keep it up that they would be rewarded in due time.
”For those of you who have been very diligent at your work, who have been around and very professional with your work, I want say thank you, God will bless you and bless the works of your hands,” he said.
Zakari noted that many of the staff have been very lazy in their duty posts and unproductive, stressing that it would no longer be business as usual.
”For those of you who have abandoned work for months, weeks and days, those who come to work at 12 noon and leave by 2 pm; well, I think it is about time for you to have a redress because the day of reckoning has come.
”We have been addressed by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, that it is not longer business as usual.
”As long as you are on Government payroll, government pay for your time from 8 am to 4pm, it means whether you have a schedule or not, you are expected to be at your work desk during the period,” he said.
He stressed that the government would no longer condone lateness,absenteeism, people gathering in their numbers under the trees or in front of the Secretariat gossiping.
”We are going to begin to monitor and supervise all your activities very closely henceforth. You are expected to resume work 8am and close by 4pm”, he restated.
He also admonished the staff on ethics and professionalism, saying anyone that collect one naira for a job he or she was scheduled to do, should be ready to face the consequence.
The CMD further advised the workers against delaying and missing of files, saying some destinies depend on those files, saying, ”If you default of falter you will be dealt with”.
He expressed disappointment over the attitudes and disposition of the newly employed staff attendants and nurses towards their duty, saying most of them were very disappointing.
”If you are not ready to work, we are ready to push you away,” he stressed.
He noted that he had ensured that every uncleared staff affected by the screening, who have a genuine complain was given a fair hearing, and some were eventually cleared.CMD had earlier had a close door meeting with the members of management of the board, where he charged them to wake up to their responsibilities.
