The people of Igalamela/Odolu LGA Yesterday showed great love and solidarity to the new Transition Chairman, Hon. Barr. Cosmas Atabor who resumed office officially yesterday to a rousing welcome by the All Progressive Congress APC supporters and members of staff of the local government area as well as
wishers across party lines.
The Caretaker chairman was received amidst cheers by jubilant supporters at the local government Secretariat along with
the state assembly member, Hon. Major Enefola, three former council chairmen, Hon. Omachonu James, Hon. Patrick Onogwu, Hon. Alih Atabor, former political appointees, party chairman and other stakeholders of the party.
The event which signals the official handing over of Documents from the Local Government Director of personnel took place under the watch of excited staff members of the council area along with party supporters, clergies and heads of security agencies.
Hon Barr. Cosmas Atabor while making his remarks at the occasion glorified God Almighty for making it possible for him to be given the opportunity to serve as caretaker Chairmen of the local government area pledging to make the welfare of the people and workers part of his administration topmost priority.
Barr. Atabor who was a former Kogi State house Assembly Member From the local government area thanked the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for finding him worthy to steer the leadership of the local government and promised not to disappoint the governor nor fail the people, as he assured them of better deal of governance under his Leadership.
While imploring everyone to forgive the wrongs and hurts of the past in the course of various political actions.
Hon Atabor said that the local government can only experience development when there is peace, unity among the people.
The assembly member, and all former council chairmen present, offered their words of advice at the event and expressed their optimism in Hon. Barr. Atabor’s capacity to take the local government to greater heights considering his wealth of experience, exposure and the cooperation and collaboration of everyone.
They described the gathering as a very unique and historic one giving the caliber of stakeholders in attendance.
The Caretaker Chairman after a productive interaction with the people, proceeded with his rich entourage to the palace of the Etemahi Igalamela, HRM Chief Ebel Etuh where he formally intimated the Etemahi of his assumption of duty and received royal blessings of the palace.
The Caretaker Chairman also paid a condolence visit to the family of Hon. M.M. Ocheni over the loss of his younger brother where prayers were said for the deceased.
The day’s activities signal a new era that promises greatness for Igalamela/Odolu LGA and the people.
