In a move to actualize its mandate of providing service to humanity, the Babatunde Irukera Foundation has commenced the second phase of distribution of food items to people of Kogi State to ameliorate the effect of Covid-19 pandemic.
A representative of the foundation, Mr. Folami Onirinwa told Journalists that thousands of tubers of yams and cartons of noodles are being distributed across the twenty one Local Government Areas as palliative.
“Just like the First initiative, this Second one (Palliative) involves provision of food items like tubers of yams, noddles among others have been distributed across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State to support the people during the extension of the Lockdown” He stated.
Mr. Onirinwa said that the gesture sponsored by the Director General, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Barrister Babatunde Irukera is part of his commitment to the welfare of the people at this difficult times.
He said though Corona Virus was yet to be recorded in Kogi State, most people have remained at home, hence the distribution of the items to cushion the effect of stay-at-home.
According to him, the entire state was chosen for the palliative support due to the believe of the donor in one united Kogi State and service to humanity.
Mr. Onirinwa urged public spirited individuals in the state to emulate Barrister Babatunde Irukera’s philanthropic gesture.
“We should stay Safe, we should be on the look out… Other well meaning people of Kogi State should try to take a leave from what the foundation is doing at this very difficult time.” Mr. Onirinwa added.
