In a manner suggesting novelty but a true way to felicitate with the Muslim Ummah, the Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, a Christian, stormed the Ukwaja Eid ground in Idah Local Government to participate in this year’s Eidel Fitri prayers.

She was received on the prayer ground by the Muslim clerics and leaders along with the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security for Idah Federal Constituency, Hon Abuh Odoma.

Speaking at the Eid ground, Rt Hon Comfort Nwuchiola said the bible, which she professed, enjoined people to rejoice with those rejoicing, hence the need for her to join the Muslim faithful to rejoice over a successful Ramadan fast. She used the occasion to charge Muslims to imbibe the good virtues of the islamic faith anchored on love, sincerity and peace.

She commended the Muslims all over the state for demonstrating courage and resilience throughout the month of Ramadan with all its challenges.

“The government of Kogi State under Alhaji Ahamed Usman Ododo is poised to prioritize safety of lives and property and bring about meaningful development in the areas of infrastructure, health and education. We need to support the government both in prayers and other lawful means to succeed.”, she said.

The Deputy Speaker added that her doors were open for both the Christian and Muslim communities to champion the cause of development in Kogi State. She emphasised that Kogi State had surpassed the primitive era of religious, tribal and political divisions. The people should therefore eschew all divisive insinuations and cooperate with the present administration.

Responding, the Chief Iman of the Central Mosque, Idah, Sheikh Aminu Yusuf, who led the prayers, thanked Hon Comfort Nwuchiola for coming. He assured her of the prayers of the Muslim community for the government and people of Kogi State.

Highlight was the Salat Al-Eid led by the Chief Imam.

From the Eid ground, the Deputy Speaker paid a Sallah homage to the Achadu Igala, His Royal Highness, Aliyu Yusuf Ameh-Adaji, at his palace in Igalogba, Idah Local Government, where she also extended good wishes to the Royal father.
