Governor Bello, Kogi Speaker, Irukera, Akanmode, Melaye Others Storm Burial of Mama Molomo Charity Irefin
Personalities from all walks of life on Saturday gathered at Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State to pay their last respect to Mama Molomo Charity Irefin, mother of Major General Olu Irefin, General Officer Commanding, 6 Division and Land Component Commander, Operation Delta Safe, Port Harcourt.
Prominent among them include, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello represented by the State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara, Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole, former Deputy Chief of Staff in the Presidency Prince Olushola Akanmode, Senator Dino Melaye, Director General of FCCPC, Barrister Babatunde Irukera serving and retired officers and men of the Nigerian Army, Traditional Rulers.
The Governor while speaking at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ayetoro Gbede, condoled with the Irefin family, Ayetoro Gbede community and Ijumu people over the demise of Mama Molomo whom he described as a great mother who produced a Military officer that is making the state and country proud.
Governor Bello prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest, urging the children to emulate the virtue of their Late mother.
He appealed to the Church to continue to pray for the peace and development of the state and the country in general.
In his sermon, the Bishop of Ijumu Anglican Diocese, Doctor Paul Ojo urged the people to live life worthy of emulation and described Late Mama Irefin as philanthropist who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity.
The son of the deceased who is the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 6 Division and Land Component Commander, Operation Delta Safe, Port Harcourt, Major General Olu Irefin thanked those who identified with their family and prayed God to reward them.
Major General Irefin stated that his mother will be greatly missed for her love, care and giving to the needy.
He used the occasion to express appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai for the confidence reposed in him and promised not to disappoint him.
The burial ceremony also witnessed a free medical outreach for the people of Ayetoro Gbede and its environs.
Mama Molomo Charity Irefin died on the 15th of March 2020 at the age of 84 and was buried on 9th May 2020.
Until her death, She was a renowned nurse as well as community development enthusiast during her life time and survived by to children including Major General Olu Irefin, General Officer Commanding, 6 Division and Land Component Commander, Operation Delta Safe, Port Harcourt, and Mr. Olayemi Irefin.
