Globally, it is a norm for political office holders to desire re-election, and Nigerian politicians are no exception afterall, as long as it dosen’t run fowl of the law.
In Nigeria, one enviable class of such office holders are House or Representatives and the Senate, they are a powerful lot in the three arms of governance in the democratic setup of the country. The incumbents go to any lengths to retain their seats for a second, third term, etc, etc. However, due to issues like intra-party crisis, unfulfilled promises, godfatherism and outright non-performance, some of them lost their re-election bid. But those who have distinguished themselves in delivering the desired dividends of democracy to their people would further enjoy the mandate of his or her people, in which Alhaji Lawal falls in this categories of credible achievers, hence he is considered for a returned for third term in office.
The ongoing war against Hon. (Alh) Mohhamad Idirisu Lawal third term ambition to further represent Ajaokuta Federal Constituency come 2023, did not just start today and not on evaluation of his performance parameter, but it’s like when one is superior to another, is not usually expressed in complaint or court case even as strife due to envy that is not easily settled.
In the light of this, these are some that have been keenly following his trajectory, and have been edged out or shuffled aside whilst beholding the towering height of the tetanic and enigmatic young man. They are poised and positioned poignantly to take their pound of flesh back in desperate distracting, derailing, disparaging and denigrating his ascension to the throne. Of course, there was a vehement and vociferous voice against his third term bid with display of diverse rigmarole
In the opposition but the political sagacity of this young man would no doubt surmount all the hurdles and finally emerged victorious at the poll come 2023 National Assembly election in Ajaokuta Local Government. It was like a proverbial cat with nine lives! In the perspective of this write-up, I have perused the political strategy and permutation of the projection of some of the candidates in the area, Hon. (Alhaji) Lawal top the chat.
There is no doubt that Hon. (Alh.) Mohammad Idirisu Lawal has brought new concept and paradigm into the political space of Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi state, as referenced could also be drawn to his Novel style of immense personal commitment and political courage to liberate the people of area from further political bondage. Hon. Lawal is well known for his fearless character, he dosen’t care or look at the face of any one, especially when he is pursuing a genuine course that would benefit his people.
Here comes the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP. Interestingly, the political pathfinder of the area, Hon. (Alhaji) Lawal, a visionary builder of future generation, has taken the local government to the party; a party based on the principled of peace, equity and progress, in order to actualize his third term bid, to further represent the good people of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, in order to influence more dividends of democracy.
It is also Interesting, that the new party in the area, NNPP, has continue to gain momentum with large followers across the fourteen (14) Wards of the local government, and has become a major political opposition in the area.
The good people of Ajaokuta Local Government believe that they need not to look elsewhere for credible, tested and trusted candidate that would represent them in the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly, Abuja, hence the people now decided to separate the chaffs from the grains, finally resolved to entrust their support and mandate on Hon. Mohammad Idirisu Lawal, for the 2023 National Assembly election in the area, come 2023.
Alhaji Lawal’s brand of politics has raised the issues affecting the common man to the front burner of the development agenda, just same as the political ideology and policy of our amiable governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, who has been regarded as a political strategist, builder of future generation and an achiever of no equal in Kogi State. In this regard, the people of Ajaokuta Local Government have established a strong link with him, Alhaji Lawal, thereby leading to a partnership that is mutually sustainable and beneficial.
Alhaji Lawal’s sojourn into Ajaokuta politics in 2014 was considered to be a blessing in disguise to the people of Ajaokuta local government, as he was able, through his political sagacity and strategy, liberate the people from political shackle and bondage, equally created political landspace in the area. In 2014, he joined the mega party, APC, as a vehicle he used to propel his political aspiration. While in APC, he was a committal to the growth and success of the party in all the 2015 elections in the area. Undoubtedly, he was also the sole financier of the party structures in the area.
For me, the current political climate in the area has been a source of concern, because when Hon. [Alh.] Lawal came around prior to 2015 general elections, he was largely seen as an unserious mind, who was fronting for another candidate, but the political bulldozer proved them wrong at his political activities and at the poll, where he eventually won his election with landslide victory to represent the people at House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja.
Since coming into politics, he has been a tale of rapid approach to the multi-dimensional challenges that the masses of the area have had to grapple with over the years. Through his human empowerment programmes, the youths and women in the area have not only found succor in life but presently are earning decent and sustainable livelihood. His fastidious, hard work and eagerness to deliver with dexterity, within the expected margins of objective parameters, make him one of the highly performing federal legislators that ever represent the area at the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly. A look into his leadership style reveals one thing and that is the fact that Hon. Lawal’s programmes and policies are mass-driven.
As Hon. Lawal has made up his mind to seek for third term bid, seek for the mandate of his people, three major things will place him in good stand to return to the National Assembly in 2023. First and foremost, he has performed credibly well in the area of infrastructure, human development and as a personified philanthropist, which has manifestly changed the socio-political landscape in the area.
Interestingly, Alhaji Lawal has successfully demystified good representation and leadership by what he has been able to accomplished in the federal House of Representatives. He has transformed the Ajaokuta Federal Constituency to infrastructural haven than he met it.
Whatever level of the few elitist opposition in the area, Hon. Lawal, the incumbent House of Representatives member, need not lose sleep over his third term bid as the good people of the area are solidly behind him. His good work will further recommend him for the continuity. The mere mention of his name, Alhaji Lawal, to be among the contenders in the House of Representatives contest in the area, it sent shivers down the spines of other contestants.
Conclusively, Hon. (Alhaji) Mohammad Idirisu Lawal is a well primed and chosen vessel by Almighty God to fulfill destiny in Ajaokuta Local Government Area. This has evidently proved many wrong, who believe that he does not have the leadership qualities to represent his people at the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly, but was able to perform credibly beyond expectations of the people, hence the people now resolved to solidly queue behind him to actualize his third term bid for continuity.
