As a follow up to the last security meeting between farmers and fulani herdsmen at Achoze, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters in charge of Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad on Saturday convey another security meeting at the farm centres to further create the needed synergy and foster peace and unity between farmers and fulani herdsmen.
Addressing the people, the Local Government Chief Security Officer revealed the report of the security investigation which shows that the fulani herdsmen who arrived the area though without approval from the host community were not criminals. He said, they were young men along with their wives and kids in search of greener pasture as available records indicate that those with criminal intents move alone.
Hon. Abdulrazaq appealed to the farmers to accommodate the new settlers even as the community now form join security vigilante committee between the farmers and fulani herdsmen to safeguard the area.
The new settlers made commitment of peace and their leaders pledged to be held responsible if they found them otherwise. Hon. Abdulrazaq assures farmers of their safety and encourage them to return to their farming activities without fear.
