Kogi State House of Assembly has restated its commitment to rapid and speedy growth of education sector.
The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusola Kilani Olumo gave the assurance during an oversight visits to Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB
Hon. Kilani who led other Committee members said education is the bedrock of any nation, hence the need to support the overall development of the sector.
According to him, the Assembly is ready to give the necessary support that will enhance the state education sector and to ensure the restoration of the lost glory of education.
At the Ministry of Education, the Committee Chairman congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment and urged him to concentrate on getting data for schools in the state.
He directed the Ministry to furnish the Committee with the template for the development of education in the state latest next week Friday and advised the Ministry to pay more attention on ending cultism on schools across the state.
Responding, the Commissioner, Hon. Wemi Jones promised to ensure standard for education in the state and seek for more cooperation of the Committee.
At the State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Kilani commended the Board for the executing the programmes of the New Direction administration effectively.

Hon. Jones appealed to stakeholders support the growth of education as the responsibility is too much for government to shoulder, saying there was urgent need to improve the ratings of the state in National examinations.
At the State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Kilani stated that the visit was not to witch hunt anyone but to ascertain if the New Direction blueprint for education has been implemented.

The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi thanked the State Assembly for approving counterpart fund for the Board and appealed to them to sensitive their constituents on the need to take public schools as their personal property.
The Committee also Visited the state Library Board and Nigeria-Korean Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology.
